Newton International Fellowships

Amount : £24K subsistence and up to £8K research expenses (both per annum) plus relocation allowance of up to £2K
This prestigious scheme has been established to select the very best early-stage postdoctoral researchers from all over the world and enable them to work at UK research institutions for a period of two years. The Scheme covers researchers in all disciplines covered by the three academies – natural and social sciences, engineering, and humanities. It aims to foster long-term relations between Newton Fellows and the UK research base.

Concours IBA de l’AAPG
Cinq étudiants vont participer à l’Imperial Barrel Award à partir de Janvier 2010. Il s’agit d’un concours organisé par l’AAPG dont le but est de caractériser le meilleur prospect à partir d’un jeu complet de données (sismique 3D, well logs, petrophysique etc...). Ces étudiants sont assistés d’un superviseur parmi l’équipe pédagogique. Les équipes des 12 meilleurs projets sélectionnés s’envoleront tous frais payés pour La Nouvelle Orléans en Mai pendant 3 jours pour exposer leurs résultats devant un parterre de professionnels du monde industriel.

AAPG IBA Competition
Five students will compete for the Imperial Barrel Award, starting January 2010. This is an AAPG contest and the aim is to determine the best prospect from a complete set of data including 3D seismic, well logs and petrophysical data. They are supervised by a member of the teaching team. The selected 12 best teams will fly to New Orleans for 3 days on next May to present their results to professionals from oil companies.
